Last Days

Over the last days of the event, and ignoring the blazing heat outside, all the project groups managed to carry on working at an intense level, right up to the last session in the eccentric but delightfully cool Sitges Design Centre. Outside of the tutorials, the lectures and case studies were all enthusiastically received by participants, observers, and the ESCAC Summer School students. These included a fascinating insight into the work of Lars von Trier from Svend Abrahamsen, who produced THE KINGDOM; an analysis of new screenwriting from Christian Routh, with particular reference to HBO drama series; and an entertaining presentation from local filmmaker Isabel Coixet, who talked about making films around the world, and directing A list actors such as Penelope Cruz and Sir Ben Kingsley.

Thankfully, there were no volcanic eruptions this time to postpone departures, as happened after Terrassa, and the exhausted but inspired participants all left in good spirits, with preparations for the September event in Sofia on their minds.
