NATFA, Bulgaria
The National Academy for Theatre & Film Arts (NATFA) is located in Sofia, the capital city of Bulgaria. Situated in the heart of the Balkan Peninsula, in the South-East of Europe, Bulgaria occupies 111000 square km and has a population of 8.8 million. It is a country with a rich cultural and historical legacy. Bulgaria has picturesque mountains and valleys, and a beautiful Black Sea coast. The population of the capital city is about 1,5 million; Sofia is a busy city with a long history, a colourful mixture of antiquity and modernity. The climate is considered moderate. Travelling around the city and the region is easy and there are lots of exciting places to see.
The Academy of Theatre and Film Arts was founded in 1948. Since then, for more than half a century, it has contributed enormously to the development of Bulgarian theatre and film arts. Throughout the decades NATFA has enriched and expanded the scope of its educational and training activities. It has retained its distinctive profile, its leading national position and high international prestige. NATFA has provided professional education and training to about 90% of the country's specialists in the fields of screen and stage arts and studies. Many of our alumni have fulfilling and successful careers in their chosen fields of work, in Bulgaria and abroad.
