SPECIALISTS AND TUTORS ANNOUNCED FOR FOUR CORNERS      13/03/2009

TRAINING WORKSHOP, ESCAC, TERRASSA, BARCELONA, 30 MARCH – 3 APRIL


 


Christian Routh, the Four Corners Head of Studies, has announced the line-up of specialists who will be presenting case studies and conferences at the forthcoming Four Corners workshop. They include:



  • PETER WEBBER, the director of the Oscar-nominated GIRL WITH A PEARL EARRING, as well as HANNIBAL RISING, and episodes of SIX FEET UNDER, will talk about his career to date

  • HELENA MEDINA, the screenwriter of Spanish TV’s highest rated mini-series ever, THE KING: THE HARDEST DAY, will explain how the series was developed

  • VALENTIN FERNANDEZ TUBAU, the writer and founder of the extraordinarily successful ‘abc guionistas’ website, who will talk about dialogue in scripts

  • DAVID HANSON, the director of Film and Media at Regents College, London, and co-creator of Max Headroom, will talk about ‘The Psychology in Film Stories.’

  • Famed script guru and Skillset UK consultant PHILIP PARKER, who will present a lecture on ‘Genre.’


 


These specialists will supplement the work of the previously announced project tutors, who will be supervising the development of twelve new projects from eight different European countries. The tutors are: Miguel Machalski (France/Argentina), Phil Hughes (UK), Svend Abrahamsen (Denmark), and Ana Sanz (Spain)


 


Four Corners is an initial training initiative for film schools supported by the MEDIA Programme of the European Union. The four members are: ESCAC, Spain; Bournemouth Screen Academy, UK; NATFA, Bulgaria, and the Film department of the Aristotle University, Thessalonica International Film Festival, Greece.

A group of 2008 participants are following up on the course through a discussion forum on Facebook, the social networking site.

FINNISH PROJECT WINS TOP SCANDINAVIAN AWARD     16/12/2008

IF I STAY IT WILL BE DOUBLE is the 2008 project from the School of Motion Picture, Television and Production Design at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki. It is represented on the course by producer Piia Nokelainen, director Marja Pyykkö, and co-writer Laura Suhonen, and has been awarded a special mention at the Nordic Talent Pitching Competition in September. Congratulations!
